The founders set out to make paying a medical bill as easy as ordering online or paying with a phone. StartUp Health reported that, for more expensive care, BrightPay offered patients low or no-interest layaway-style payment plans, in contrast to credit products that can carry high interest rates.
BrightPay’s origin story on the original site describes two problems the founder faced: “there were not any flexible options available to manage their payments” and “there was not an easy way to pay.”
